George W. Liford

LIFORD, GEORGE W. - age 67, went to be with our Lord on June 18th. He is preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Hopson Liford; sisters, Lorena Brantlley and Vicie Logan; 7 half brothers and sisters; brother-in-law, J.M. Wells. He is survived by wife of 43 years, Bonnie Wilson Liford; brothers, Clifford and wife, Peggy Liford of Maynardville, Floyd and wife, Irene Liford of New Tazewell; brother-in-law, James Logan; sisters-in-law, Fran Hensley and husband, Noble and Lillian Russell and husband, Willis; 8 nieces and nephews; 8 great-nieces and nephews. Member and deacon of Beech Grove Baptist Church, 32 degree Mason of Beaver Ridge Lodge #366, member of Scottish Rites of Freemasonry. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Saturday at Weaver's Chapel with the service to follow at 7 pm. with Reverends Billy Moore, Robert Holt and Brian Liford officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 pm Sunday, June 21st at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for a 2 pm Entombment Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Beech Grove Baptist, 2733 Tooles Bend Rd., Knoxville, TN 37922 or Shriner's Hospital for Children, c/o Kerbella Temple of Knoxville, Knoxville, TN 37901. Obituary: Faye Louise (Golden) Linder

Faye L. Linder, 85, of Columbus died at 12:07 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

A registered nurse, Mrs. Linder formerly worked at Bartholomew County Hospital, then retired in 1986 from Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. where she was coordinator of school health services. She was a charter member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Rebecca Circle of the Church, Asbury DMA, OK Home Economics Club, Columbus Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Foundation for Youth Swim Exercise Program and Bartholomew County Senior Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church by Dr. Al Styron Jr. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Linder was born in Columbus Aug. 19, 1923, the daughter of Herman L. and Grace L. Harms Golden. She married Edgar A. Linder Jr., March 19, 1950, in Columbus.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Claudia J. (Ken) Schneider of Hanover and Rebecca A. (Tom) Wilson of New Richmond, Ohio; grandchildren, Emily D. (Jason) Sedillo of Nashville, TN, and Benjamin T. (Stephanie) Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Obituary: Larry Donald Edens

Larry Donald Edens, 67, Granby, died Wed., June 9, 2009 at his home on Gum Road in Granby, following failing health since 2005.

Larry was born July 22, 1941 in Neosho, MO. to Earl John Edens and Bernice Marie (Stockton) Edens and was a lifelong area resident. Larry attended Silver Moon School at Rt. 5 Neosho. He had served in the U. S. Army National Guards and had worked at Schrieber Foods in Carthage until he had to take early retirement due to ill health and was of the Pentecostal faith.

He married Velma Lea (Walker) Edens on Nov. 4, 1962 in Okmulgee, OK and she survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Bubby "Jody" Edens Eggensperger and his partner, Shawn Spencer, Mulberry, KS; Larry "Jamie" James Edens and wife, Shelly, and Brian Lee Edens and his wife, Denise, all of Granby; two brothers, Robert Ray Edens and wife, Opal, Oronogo, MO and Kenneth Wayne Edens and wife, Jolene, Joplin; 8 grandchildren; Aaron Matthew Edens, Jessica Marie Edens, Chelsey Nicole Edens, Levi James Edens, Laci Jo Edens, Dakota James Edens, Raven Lynn Edens and Ford Lee Edens; 6 step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; Genieva Earline Edens, Charlotte "Kay" Kay (Edens) Rinehart, Joyce Lea (Edens) Simpson, and one brother; Freddie Dale Edens.

Graveside services will be Sat., June 13, 2009 at 10:00 am at the Greenwood Cemetery, Granby, Rev. Shelly Edens and Rev. Joe Serta will officiate. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby on Friday from 9 am to 6 pm.

Obituary: Deborah Ilene Walker-Bellet

From time to time, I will be posting obituaries that have come to my attention of family members who have died recently. While generally not reflected on the Edward B. Walker Web site, all family members are included in my family file.

The following obituary was sent to me by Bette Sutton-Rodey; it is quite similar but not identical to the obituary published online 20 June 2009 in the Monroe [Michigan] News. Debbie appears in my family file here.

Deborah Walker-Bellet
12-18-1954 - 6-18-2009

Deborah Ilene Walker-Bellet of Spring Hill, Florida lost a valiant fight with cancer on June 18, 2009 at Hernando Pasko Hospice (HPH) Care Center in Hudson, Florida.

Cremation has taken place and a wake will be held in Spring Hill, Florida.

Deborah was born December 18, 1954 in Monroe, Michigan to Claude E. and Lois (Sutton) Walker.

Deborah married Donald Vincent on January 2, 1973. She married Frederick Bellet on February 7, 1999. Deborah always said Fred was her dream come true.

Deborah was a Real Estate Agent for Seaside Realty of Hernando, Inc. in Hernando Beach, FL. for many years. Debbie was a tireless advocate for National Health Care and global environmental issues, wanting to leave the earth cleaner than she found it.

She is survived by her husband, 3 children: Jeremiah Vincent of Oak Ridge Tennessee, Christopher (Bridget) Vincent of West Palm Beach, Florida and MacKenzie Shipe of Spring Hill Florida. Three Grandchildren: Evangeline, Bailey and Booker Shipe of Monroe, Michigan. Two brothers, W. Earl (Elizabeth) Walker and Paul (Renee) Shaw both of Monroe, six sisters: Bette Joan Sutton-(Albert) Rodey, Peggy Miller and Mildred Daniels all of Monroe, Alma (Norman) Sweat of Cache OK., Deanna (Samuel) Ansell of Skiatook OK. and Claudette (David) Sair of St..Petersburg, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Kenneth D. [Correction by Bette from a second mention of Paul's name] Shaw.
